Charlapalli Railway Terminal to Be Inaugurated on January 6
The much-awaited Charlapalli Railway Terminal, constructed at a cost of ₹430 crores, is all set for its grand inauguration. The terminal will be virtually inaugurated on January 6, 2025, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Delhi.
This state-of-the-art terminal was initially scheduled for inauguration on December 28, 2024, by Union Ministers Kishan Reddy and Ashwini Vaishnaw. However, the program was postponed due to the unfortunate demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Connectivity to Kashmir – A Historic Milestone
On the same day, another historic moment will unfold as India launches its first train services to Kashmir Valley under the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway project. With key infrastructure completed last month, this development will link Kashmir with the rest of the nation, opening new avenues for connectivity and growth.
As part of this, the Indian Railways will introduce a Vande Bharat Express and two mail express trains to the Kashmir Valley. This marks a significant leap in rail connectivity for the region.
Kanyakumari to Kashmir Train – Passing Through Kazipet
The government is also planning a Kanyakumari to Kashmir train service, which is expected to pass through the Kazipet Railway Station. While the project is still under development, this initiative will further enhance India’s railway network. Additionally, there are plans to introduce Vande Bharat sleeper trains soon.
Inauguration Ceremony
The inauguration event will see the participation of prominent leaders:
- Union Minister for Coal and Mines Kishan Reddy will attend the ceremony at Charlapalli.
- Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will be present at the event in Kashmir.
The Charlapalli Terminal is expected to play a vital role in improving rail infrastructure and easing travel for passengers in the region. This new terminal, combined with the enhanced connectivity to Kashmir, represents a major stride in India’s railway modernization efforts.
